Bill Ommert, Director

Mr. Ommert is the Director of the Huron County Emergency Management Agency, Huron County 911, and Emergency Coordinator for Huron County's Local Emergency Planning Committee. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mr. Ommert has completed over 600 hours of emergency response, emergency management, and hazmat training, and for the last nine years has served as a member of the State Emergency Response Commission.

Since becoming Director in January of 1991, Mr. Ommert has enabled the EMA to obtain new offices with a state of the art Emergency Operations Center (EOC), two emergency generators, two hazmat trailers, mobile air unit, and various hazardous materials equipment and supplies. Mr. Ommert has also secured grants enabling the EMA to provide all of Huron County's fire departments with new laptop computers and four-gas monitors. In addition to equipment, the EMA has also provided free fire and hazardous materials training to Huron County's fire, law, and EMS responders. Mr. Ommert serves on the EMA and LEPC boards, the Huron Count Safety Committee, the Huron County Railroad Safety Task Force Committee, Executive Committee of Emergency Management Association of Ohio, and the Huron County 911 Technical Advisory Committee.

Tina Norton, Deputy Director

Mrs. Norton has served with the EMA since July, 1991, and holds an Associate Degree of Applied Business from Terra Community College. During the last decade, Tina has completed her EMA PDS Capstone in the Fall of 1996 and has over 350 hours of emergency management training provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA), and the State Fire Marshall's Office.

In September of 2000, Tina was awarded the Golden Staff Award by the Emergency Management Association of Ohio. The award is intended to reward EMA staff personnel through projects, programs, exemplary service and/or who distinguishes herself in the field of emergency management or through the promotion of emergency management.

Tina has also served several times as exercise controller during mock disasters and serves as a board member on the Huron County Railroad Safety Task Force Committee, Huron County 911 Technical Advisory Committee, Huron County Local Emergency Planning Committee, and the Huron County Emergency Management Advisory Board.
