Reach
Our Youth
A
mentoring program for youth in Huron County
Reach Our Youth (ROY) is a
mentoring program that matches volunteers with youth [ages 6-18] in a
one-to-one relationship. Many of the
youth are in need of good role models and an extra friend to share life’s
experiences. ROY aims to help youth
grow into well-adjusted adults who contribute positively to their
community. Any child who resides in
Huron County and is in need of a mentor can join ROY.

Volunteers:
ROY volunteer mentors are age 16 and
older and make a six-month commitment to spend time with a child on a weekly
basis. Volunteers are encouraged to
spend quality time instead of money with their friend. The volunteer mentor strives to provide a
caring and positive relationship with their assigned mentee through listening,
talking and sharing meaningful activities.
Volunteers undergo a thorough screening and training process before they
are paired up with a child.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
ROY holds group activities for all
members periodically throughout the year.
Some of the more popular events include roller skating, bowling and a
summer picnic. The programs are
designed to provide safe, healthy and positive experiences for the youth and to
offer a support network to volunteer mentors.
