Major Club Projects

Sponsorship of Annual 4-H Grade A Banquet
Every year for the past 65 years, Kiwanis members have sponsored a banquet for 4-H youth who earn a grade A at the Huron County Fair. Once a common event throughout Ohio, this is now the only banquet of its kind in the state. 500-600 youth and parents are served annually at this event.
Scholarship Program
Every year our club awards five $500 scholarships to seniors of Norwalk and St. Paul's High Schools. Scholarships are awarded based on applications submitted by the students.
Sponsorship and support of Norwalk and St. Paul High Key Clubs
Our club has sponsored and supports Key Clubs at our local high schools. These clubs are some of the largest and most active clubs in the Ohio District. Support includes subsidies for youth and sponsors to attend the Ohio District Key Club Convention.
Sponsorship of Annual Head Start Christmas Party
Every December our club has sponsored a Christmas party for children in the Head Start program of our community. We serve an average of 150 children and adults, serving them pizza and distributing gifts. Our Norwalk Key Club has helped us extensively with this project.

Club Fund-Raisers

Huron County Fair Parking - Every third week in August, residents of Huron County gather for the fair. Kiwanis members are on hand to help direct traffic and park cars.

Dinner Dance and Silent Auction - This new fundraiser, pioneered in February, 2000, features a theme-based catered dinner followed by a dance with live music. Kiwanis members and Community sponsors provide items for a silent auction that is held during the evening. We are excited about this new fundraiser, and believe that it will evolve into our primary fund-raising event for the year.

Cedar Point Booster Bucks - Our club benefits from close proximity to a premier amusement park, Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio. This park's Booster Bucks program pays non-profit groups who work an eight-hour shift in one of the park's stores or restaurants. Our club works at least one shift each season.

Pancake Breakfasts - We serve one or two pancake breakfasts during the year to supplement our fundraising activities.
