Kiwanis Education Spot Did you know that Ohio has a district foundation? The foundation provides funds for our sponsored youth and children's hospitals. Most Recently, the foundation funded a poison prevention program in which clubs can participate. The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundataion has 501(c)(3) status. The foundation is also raffling off a new Jeep. See Tom Stoll for a ticket. |
"Hypnotist Extraordinaire" Highlights A Grade Banquet Beating cockroaches with a plastic bat. Shivering with cold. Getting up and moving because the neighboring person "smells" so bad. Dancing like Madonna, Michael Jackson, and the Village People. These are all behaviors elicited from volunteers who came on stage and submitted to the hypnotic skills of Charles Milligan, "Hynotist Extraordinaire" at the 65th Annual Kiwanis 4-H "A" Grade Banquet on Monday, April 3, at the Norwalk Middle School.. Approximately 600 youth, parents, and other adults attended the event. Martha's Catering did a superb job of providing a tasty dinner to the large group. All in all, it was memorable night for everyone in attendance. Thanks to John Fries for all his efforts in organizing this event, and to all Kiwanians for their help with this project. This event continues to be the only one of its kind in the State of Ohio. |
| 12 Steps are Spiritual Focus for Lent At each of six meetings during the season of Lent, Kiwanians have been presented with cards on which are written two of 12 Steps for Spiritual Living, adapted from the 12 Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Steps encourage a spiritual approach to living that recognizes that our lives at times are sinful and unmanageable, and that a power greater than ourselves can transform our weaknesses into strengths. The Spiritual Aims Committee is coordinating this program. |
