"Tech2000 Radiant" - Forget the old snaking wires and plugs, giant car batteries and controllers used in the past. These occular case heater panels and their extra-powerful sealed power packs are super-thin & totally self-contained. Maintains contents well above air temp & greatly extends viewtime by automatically storing calories in ALL occulars continuously without contact... all night long baby while you rotate occulars. Up to 1000 charges! Slips into case bottom without use of any existing occular space and recharges directly without removing anything. Stop waiting around to warm your favorite occulars... and stop sticking occulars in a dirty pocket... Bad boy!... Bad girl! Radiant is great, no need for wires and heaters at the focuser that absorb your setup time and occular change time, all are instantly ready at all times! You just switch it on and ready-set-go! We really love this device. You... already figured that out... sorry.
Deluxe has a larger radiant panel about 2x area, twice the power, and almost twice the run-time (see installation spec's below), and has a control-panel that tucks into the rear of your case behind the foam edge - this has a red illuminated switch, charger jack, and a top-load fuse (this is black and is not visible in the photos).
See installation instructions below for full specifications.
Be sure to see operating instructions below for more info that you really should know about occular dew combat-readiness.
The panel size should be always smaller than the case inside dimensions, the panel heats all objects inside the case without contact and without needing to be as large as the case dimensions - thanks to the radiant heating it will go right through all foam and heat all the contents in your case even if the panel is only 50% of the case size!
Extra batteries are available with order at a very low cost, these are not actually needed in most observing runs due to the extremely high efficiency and run-time on these panels - unless you plan on more than a weekend out in the field (over 11-17 hours observing time) or just prefer to have spare power on hand ready-to-go at all times. We design these devices to be convenient with very long run times, and to be recharged directly as-is without removing the battery power pack, so get spare packs only if you think you may be out for extended periods.

BASIC USER INFORMATION:
The purpose of this device is to elevate occular temperatures so that they will 'store-up' calories of heat, and thereby take far longer to fall below air temperature, that is the point where dew will form on them. A night sky acts like a thermal-absorber, actually drawing heat radiation directly from objects. As a result, an occular (and any other exposed optic) will lose heat more rapidly than just a difference in air temperature would cause. The effect actually makes most materials colder than the air temperature! Moisture will condense then very rapidly. Even on crisp low-humidity nights there is plenty of moisture available - from your eyes and face! This is why dew formation occurs rather rapidly on occulars, and you keep stuffing various ones into pockets continuously... stop doing that... do you realize the quantity of debris contained in a pocket? Flakes of skin, lint, dirt, body oils, mixed into a wonderful pasty slurry. Good for a pocket... bad for an occular.
With a Radiant panel in your case, you can now change occulars cleanly, and anything you pick will be ready to use at any time for FAR longer periods than ever before. You will not need to tend cord heaters or blowers, changing a velcro strap every time, or worries about forgetting or even damaging an occular in a pocket. All optics will be ready at all times. Return one, and the others reheat it!
The panel will very gently raise the temperature of the case contents 5-14 degrees F above the external air temperature and maintain it there until disconnected (see spec's). Opening the lid will lose very little heat since it is stored in the objects which are in foam, but keep the lid closed & latched to conserve heat.

STANDARD MODELS:
Apply power by mating the connectors. Remove power by unplugging. These are polarized and only connect one way. Charge with the AC wall adaptor supplied - the connector is polarized for proper polarity and mates only with the power pack connector so you will naturally have the correct connection every time. Charging and handling details are in a section below. The fuse holder is on the wire closest to the power pack. A fuse should never blow unless there is a short, then all components should be carefully inspected for fault conditions - NEVER bypass the fuse. See the specifications area for information on fuse rating, run time, etc.

DELUXE MODELS:
Apply power on/off by actuating the rocker switch on the power panel. The switch will illuminate when power is on. Charge with the AC wall adaptor supplied - using the jack in the center of the power panel (be sure this plug is fully inserted!). Charging and handling details are in a section below. The panel fuse holder is on the end and its top-loading cap unscrews with a fingernail or coin. A fuse should never blow unless there is a short, then all components should be carefully inspected for fault conditions - NEVER bypass the fuse. See the specifications area for information on fuse rating, run time, etc.

CHARGING, STORAGE, DISPOSAL:
Charge power pack cells only with the supplied wall adapter, approximately 2 hours per each hour of use is sufficient. Do not leave on charge more than 24 hours as this can reduce the life cycle or cause gas-out. It is recommended to allow several hours of thermal equalization before opening an occular case brought inside from the cold, so that moisture will not condense on the cold optics. For long-term storage (an expected duration longer than 3 months) remove the power pack and keep it in its zipper bag with the protection terminals on. WARNING: DO NOT incinerate the power pack or leave its terminals exposed to incidental contact with metal objects - this could cause sparks, gas-out or even an explosion. Dispose of the power pack at an automotive battery center or wrap and ship to TECH2000 below.
